Hi support, Gmail MX record recently has changed. Old method is to add 5 MX dns record, which is according to this documentation:

https://support.google.com/a/answer/140038?hl=en#zippy=%2Ccheck-the-mx-records-that-are-applied-to-your-primary-domain%2Ccheck-your-mx-records-using-an-mx-lookup-tool

which the MX dns is:

ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM.
ALT1.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM.
ALT2.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM.
ALT3.APSMX.L.GOOGLE.COM.
ALT4.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM.

But now, Gmail MX setup has changed to this:

https://support.google.com/a/answer/140034?hl=en

which the new MX dns points to address is just single line:

SMTP.GOOGLE.COM

and I set my MX records value as follow:

Hostname: <blank>
Type: MX
Points to: smtp.google.com
Priority: 1
TTL: 86400 (1 day)

but at Google Gmail activation, google system says my MX dns record does not match with the expected MX.

what could i missing?

according to some tips,. I am recommended to add a dot after the ".COM", so I try to do so. and DYNU DNS refuse me to do. If I add a dot behind the ".COM", such as:

smtp.google.com.

*Notice there's a dot at the end

DYNU DNS page says it is an invalid host.

Any tips on how to fix this?

Okay I have just contacted Google Customer Support. The conclusion is there is a bug at their system.

Google Workspace Gmail Setup has changed. Start from April 2023, all new account will be using the following MX record:

SMTP.GOOGLE.COM

Yes, just a single one MX record is required.

If your Google Workspace (or GSuite) is setup before April 2023, the MX records will be as follow:

ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM.
ALT1.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM.
ALT2.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM.
ALT3.APSMX.L.GOOGLE.COM.
ALT4.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM.

Here is the official announcement/documentation for this change:

https://support.google.com/a/answer/174125

And at the Google Admin Console > Gmail Activation Page

After you have added the new MX record correctly: smtp.google.com

The Gmail Activation Page will still not able to identify this MX record and gmail service remains unactivated. This is a bug. In reality, once the new MX record added (smtp.google.com), the gmail has already start working.

They will fix in the near future, and therefore the error will be temporary.
